Test Week

Week 14

This week in the 3620 I have started on my two page paper about why businesses fail. I have found many interesting thing on line and also in some different books. In class i expect we talked about the test and reviewed for the test. In the 3500 I expect that we have prepared the last week of class and reviewed for the test. I have enjoyed taking these classes where I have been able to see more about real life experiences of managing a business and even owning a business.

Week 13

This week in the 3500 class we watched the film clip about marketing and the different strategies to use to become a good marketer. Also our Richfield site done a research project on vans and explained the people that they market for such as the skater boys and snowboarders. Also about how to custom make your own pair of shoes. In the 3620 class we learned about some of the different reasons why new businesses struggle in the first few years.

Week 12

This week in the 3620 class we have been talking about ethics in business and we were able to listen to two guest speakers Anne and Earl. They talked about the chamber of comers and how important it is to get involved with the community wherever you live. Earl is a loan officer for Zions bank and he also talked about getting involved with the community and about financial records and how a small business owner is going to reach his goals. Knowing how you are going to reach your goals determines if you can get a loan or not. Also in the 3500 class we have talked about marketing and this makes me think of when Anne in the other class talked about the value of a hand shake. There are many different ways to market on the Internet and other methods but shaking a hand is very valuable.

Week 11

This week in 3500 I have given my informational presentation on Wicked the play that is a recreation of the Wizard of Oz. I have learned a lot about the heart that it takes to be involved in marketing, because there are so many highs and lows! I think it is important to find the best market and push or pull to bring more consumers into the product. Also in the 3620 class we have talked about the difference between managers and entrepreneur. One of the things that i thought was interesting is that it is not always true that good entrepreneur make good managers. Most bring in good managers to bring more security to the company. Where the entrepreneur is the one to step out there and be more on the edge.

Week 10

This week I did not attend the 3620 class. In 3500 I have learned a lot about Marketing Channels and how to manage products. I also started a job working with K mart and have been able to relate a lot of the concepts learned in class to real life situations. It is cool to see how important marketing and pricing strategies are in any business.

Week 8

This week in 3620 we have been able to listen to a business owner Miss Loveland talked to us about her experience developing ash vacuums. I thought that it was very interesting how she did not give up on the projects and she did not received a paycheck for 10 years after the business had been started. I also thought it was important to invest all the profits back into the business for the first ten years. I also thought it was interesting to see how selfless she is and not greedy. We also talked about pricing products, and how important it is to set prices apropratly.

Week 7

One of the most interesting things that I learned in the 3620 class was some of the video clips that we were watching. One video particularly stuck out shows how long it takes for certain companies or objects to reach one million or one billion consumers. I thought that it was interesting that it only too 9 months for face book to get one million consumers. And it took like over 10 years for 1 million people to get a TV in there home. I have also learned in the 3500 class alot about different brands and I have been thinking about a brand on the cattle around here and thinking that it is very similar. I think that it is very interesting how people can recognize a certain brand and marketing mix.

Week 6

This week we have talked alot about marketing research, we also talked about the seven steps that outline marketing research. The seven steps show how to find a problem and how to fix the problem. I think that this can be applied to life and help any individual become a better person. We did not have the 3620 class this week because we had our Monday schedule.

Week 5

First of all I think that marketing is a very complex subject. I have been learning about the marketing principles that coca cola has adopted. I had the opportunity to do a research paper on the coca cola company. It is intresting to see how company's market for a certin age group to target them and sell to them. I think it is itresting the market for energy drinks are a tall can and imulate the tall beer cans. This shows that businesses target certain things or certain people to make the money. By this I mean that the company is focused on groups before the products are even sold. In the 3620 class we have learned from the guest speaker the time value of money and showed us that it is important to become financially stable and be smart in all the decesions we make.

Week 4

This week I have learned tons in both of my classes first of all I have spent more time twittering and blogging. In the 3620 class watching the film I learned how important business skills are in the reality of life. Many people develop different way but good business skills are valued. In the 3500 class I have learned a lot about chocolate! Also about buyers remorse and the value of being financially smart.

Week 3

I am now on twitter and blogging. I have learned about corporate social responsibility and the importance of ethics. This shows how much a company or even a single person cares about society. I think that costumer service and serving the economy is a great way to get business and people will continue buying from any good quality business.

Week 2

This week I have learned how important it is to establish a social network for any business. I have learned that there are cheep ways to market products and great ways to establish a product through the Internet. Blogs, face book and twitter are great social networks for people to post good things about products and share things with people through the world.

Week 1

The first day of class seems to be a good day to miss, but this class has been a bit different. The first day of class was cool I liked how the Professor asked each of us to write down good things about good teachers and the bad things that we each dislike, so we can make the class the most productive successful. I think that this class will be very productive and I look forward to this class.
